Important Session Information

  • The Indoor Session runs for approximately 24 weeks of play, with scheduled breaks during the Christmas/New Year period and March Break.
  • Games are scheduled between 6:00 PM and 10:30 PM, unless otherwise stated. Teams play during an assigned portion of that evening window and are not expected to be at the gym for the entire period.
  • Game times may vary from week to week. Where possible, the BVL rotates teams through earlier and later time slots throughout the session to help distribute start times fairly.
  • Teams generally play two sets against each opponent. In a standard six-team division, approximately 20 minutes is allotted per set. Most nights feature matches against two different opponents, with additional matches scheduled on some weeks where time, facilities and permits allow.
  • Division sizes and game formats may be adjusted based on registration numbers, facility availability and permitted gym time. Larger divisions may use modified set formats while providing a comparable amount of overall playing time.
  • All registration fees include HST and year-end prizes.
  • A BVL representative will be on-site to assist with setup, record scores and answer questions.
  • Teams are expected to assist with court setup and teardown to help ensure games begin and finish on time.
  • Specific gym locations are provided with the schedule. Games are played at various school gymnasiums and recreation facilities throughout Brampton.

Individual Registration

Players who do not have a team may register individually.

During registration, individual players will be asked to provide an estimated skill level. Once registration closes, the BVL will review the individual player pool and work to form teams based on the selected division, skill levels and applicable team-composition requirements.

Once teams have been formed, the BVL will contact players, introduce them to their teammates and provide further instructions to help get the team started.

Individual registration is subject to availability and does not guarantee placement on a team. If there are insufficient registrations to form an appropriate team, affected players will be contacted to discuss available options, which may include a wait list or a full refund.

Alignment & Divisional Placement

The first few weeks of the session consist of non-refereed alignment play, with teams playing shortened games against multiple opponents.

Results from the alignment period are used to initially group teams with others of a similar skill level. Once regular divisional play begins, standings and results continue to be used to determine movement between divisions throughout the session.

Teams are expected to field a representative roster during alignment so that the BVL can assess teams as accurately as possible. Final divisional placement and any corrective movement between divisions remain at the discretion of the BVL.

Rules, Policies & Team Responsibilities

Teams are responsible for ensuring that they can field a legal team each week in accordance with applicable BVL rules, including player and gender requirements for their division.

Teams that fail to appear for scheduled games may be subject to warnings, fines or other measures in accordance with BVL policies.

Additional information regarding rules, substitutions, eligibility, refunds, conduct and other league policies is available through the BVL Resources section.

By completing registration, participants acknowledge and agree to applicable BVL rules, policies, terms and conditions.
